Why hasn’t my report appeared on the Hum Map?

Three reasons.

  1. I haven’t done it yet. A Hum Map update is tedious and can take hours, and so sometimes there can be a six to eight week wait from making a report to seeing it on the Map. I must check every point personally, and even then a few low quality ones will get through.
  2. You aren’t hearing the world Hum, but something else. I look at your description and make a judgement.
  3. There’s been a geocoding problem. That is, the address you gave did not translate into the correct position on the Map. These can be hard to track down sometimes.

Thanks for the heads up Glen!

  2. George G. says:

I just read a report that NASA have launched a research balloon which will circumnavigate the planet.

One of its research targets is to study “—-low frequency sounds in the stratosphere—”
Some of these sounds “are believed to be new to science–”

WOW! WE MAY HAVE NASA AS AN ALLY!
